Okonkwo is, in this sense, the outsider watching his village fall under the hold in of the white government. The villagers also know this but are unavailing to help themselves. Although Okonkwo tries to help, by urging his people to fight, his efforts are futile. In the end, Okonkwo, unable to watch the death of his village and culture as he knows it, takes his own life.

This quote thereby shows one of the major themes of the novel: the destruction of African culture due to colonization. The initiative example of this theme can be seen in part two of the novel where the first converts began to join the missionaries. I think the author of this essay did not fully understand the moral of the falsehood. Things fall apart though a fictional story clearly represents what took place in Nigeria about a cytosine ago. The story is about the pride and stubborness of Okonkwo and things might have debate out quite differently for him (and the clan) had he not make some certain rash decisions (such as killing the messenger which lead to him (Okonkwo) taking his own life). The moral of the story is that war and violence does not always solve problems!
